Hoopdance Fundamentals
Seven Fabulous Fridays: Feb-Mar 2010

In this seven week series, you will learn the basic principles of hooping, or ‘hoopdance,’ in a way that ignites curiosity and playfulness. Hooping is fun, creative, and energizing, as well as being especially effective exercise! The series will cover core work on the waist and hips, hand and foot hooping, off-body rolling and weaving, basic breaks, stepping/jumping in and out of the hoop, angels, posture, and spin. There will be ample opportunity for one-on-one attention, as well as exercises designed to help us drop the mind and surrender to the flow. You will come away with increased joy and confidence, greater somatic sensitivity and awareness, and a deeper relationship with your personal hoop practice.

Nayeli Michelle has been a mover her whole life --ballet, jazz, swimming, biking, dancing, roller skating, modern dance, Capoeira, and over 15 years of yoga practice with deep roots in Ashtanga Vinyasa, Iyengar, Therapeutics & Psychosomatics, and current focused study in Anusara, AcroYoga, and Prana Vinyasa Flow. A teacher of movement for a decade, Michelle's approach to hoopdance brings with it a pure joy of the potency of dance, the intelligence of proper alignment principles, emphasis on sensitivity and body awareness, and the power of the meditative flow state to be the ultimate teacher. http://www.hoopnectar.com
