Learn the sacred art of belly dance from Valentina, a 2nd generation belly dancer. Valentina has been belly dancing for 12 years! She grew up in LA with her mother, Leela as a successful belly dance teacher, troupe leader and producer (www.leelabellydance.com). Valentina's style is unique, provocative and draws from a variety of belly dance styles. Her ability to fuse American Tribal Style, Egyptian Cabaret, Jazz, Hip Hop and Modern dance will provide you with a fun, interesting workout! Belly dance allows you to discover your inner feminine power and beauty. Get great exercise that engages all your muscles, while bonding with other women and discovering yourself! Classes will include drills and choreography.

 Chakra Goddess Belly Dance Series

 Chakra is a concept referring to wheel-like vortices, according to traditional Indian medicine. The Chakras are said to be "force centres" or whorls of energy permeating, from a point on the physical body. They are considered the focal points for the reception and transmission of energies. Seven major chakras or energy centres (also understood as wheels of light) are generally believed to exist.
 
Each week we will start with a short Chakra meditation and then explore movements that engage each Chakra's physical placement.
March 2nd ~ Root Chakra
Color: Red
Placement: Base of the Spine
Represents: Being Grounded, Rooted and Connected to the Earth
 
March 9th ~ Sacral Chakra
Color: Orange
Placement: Lower Abdomen to the Navel
Represents: Creativity, Sensuality
 
March 16th ~ Solar Plexus Chakra
Color: Yellow
Placement: Midway Between the Navel and the Base of the Sternum
Represents: Self-love, Individuality, Life Force

March 23rd ~ Heart Chakra
Color: Green
Placement: Heart
Represents: Love, Relationships
 
March 30th ~ Throat Chakra
Color: Blue
Placement: Throat
Represents: Communication, Honesty
 
April 6th ~ Third Eye Chakra
Color: Indigo
Placement: Brow
Represents: Knowledge, Wisdom
 
April 13th ~ Crown Chakra
Color: Violet
Placement: Top of the Head
Represents: Spiritual Connectedness
